International Erciyes Ski Mountaineering Races Conclude
Held in line with the determined sports investment vision of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, the event further strengthened the city’s position in the international sports arena. Previously recognized with the title of “European City of Sport” and the Gold Flag Award, Kayseri is now progressing confidently in its candidacy process for the 2029 World Sports Capital.
As part of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality’s visionary sports projects, the International Erciyes Ski Mountaineering Races were successfully completed under the organization of Sports Inc., operating within the municipality. A total of 100 athletes from Russia, Azerbaijan, and various regions of Türkiye participated in the competition. Athletes competed in the following categories: Senior Men, Senior Women, U20 Men, U18 Men, U18 Women, U16 Men, U16 Women, U14 Men, and U14 Women.
The races, held at the summit of Erciyes Ski Center, showcased athletes’ speed, technique, and endurance, earning great applause. Taking place on the challenging courses of Mount Erciyes, the event featured fierce competition among international athletes and concluded with a magnificent award ceremony.
Throughout the organization, not only medals but also determination, courage, and the spirit of fair play stood out. All athletes competing on the demanding course were highly appreciated for their performances.
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ufuk Sekmen, Chairman of the Board of Erciyes Inc. Zafer Akşehirlioğlu, Sports Inc. General Coordinator Fatih Çağan, Youth and Sports Branch Manager Yakup Deliktaş, and Kayseri Mountaineering Provincial Representative İsmail Yılmaz attended the award ceremony and shared in the athletes’ excitement.
Once again demonstrating its strong capacity to host international events, Kayseri brought the unifying power of sports, the quality of its institutional hospitality, and the rising brand value of Erciyes to the global stage. In line with its goal of becoming the 2029 World Sports Capital, Kayseri is no longer just competing at the summit — it is claiming it.
